Prep Players Bringing Thunder, 'Lightning Thief' to Tully stage April 21-22

God is great, but Greek gods can be finicky. Such is the life of Percy Jackson and the other children of Camp Half-Blood. Part men and women, part immortal, they can see a world beyond the human eye. But on Friday, April 21 and twice on Saturday, April 22, the Iona Prep Players will pull back the curtain ― or rather raise it on the William J. Tully Gymnasium stage ― as our Gael thespians present the theatrical adaptation of Rick Riordan's "The Lightning Thief."

Come and see a cast and crew starring fellow students from Holy Child, Maria Regina and The Ursuline School, along with our Iona Prep men. The show is directed by alumnus Jason Summers '98 and the Prep Players moderated by Mr. Charles Sloat '84, P'15,'17.

Advance ticket sales are $15, but only so long as we remain in the graces of the god of war. Ares' astrological month ends on April 19, after which prices will increase $5 per ticket. Click the link below to get yours before the gods change their mind!

"The Lightning Thief" book is by Joe Tracz, with music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, and licensing by Concord Theatricals.

As the half-blood son of a Greek god, Percy Jackson has newly-discovered powers he can't control, a destiny he doesn't want, and a mythology textbook's worth of monsters on his trail. When Zeus's master lightning bolt is stolen and Percy becomes the prime suspect, he has to find and return the bolt to prove his innocence and prevent a war between the gods. But to succeed on his quest, Percy will have to do more than catch the thief. He must travel to the Underworld and back; solve the riddle of the Oracle, which warns him of betrayal by a friend; and come to terms with the father who abandoned him. Adapted from the best-selling book "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan and featuring a thrilling original rock score, "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical" is an action-packed mythical adventure "worthy of the gods" (Time Out New York).
