How to Apply for Admission to the Lower School for 2024-2025

Iona Prep Lower School continues to accept applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Currently, we have space for Pre-K4 to grade 5. Applications are still being accepted for middle school grades and will be reviewed although there continues to be a waiting list for grade 7 and 8.

The application process entails:

Creating a Parent Portal account for your son(s)

Completing an application (through the portal)

Uploading all necessary documents

Submitting requests for recommendations

In addition to the application form, you will be provided a convenient checklist to help you keep track of all requirements. The items to submit on the Portal include:

Your son's final report cards from 2021, 2022, and 2023. (Students entering PK-4 and kindergarten are exempt from this requirement.)

Your son's most recent standardized test scores. This may be New York State tests, or other tests such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS or Iowas).

(If applicable) Your son's IEP or 504 Plan.

(If applicable) The International Student Fee for those in need of a student visa.

Recommendations from two teachers and/or administrators who are familiar with your son in an academic setting are required for students entering grades 3 through 8. This step is done by sending requests through the Portal to have teachers and/or administrators submit recommendations, but please keep in mind that during the summer months this process may take some time as schools may be closed and staff may be on vacation.

Important birth dates:

Applicants for the PK-4 program must be 4 years old by December 31, 2024.
Applicants for the Kindergarten program must be 5 years old by December 31, 2024.
Applicants for the First Grade must be 6 years old by December 31, 2024.
